Gutters and fascia are part of the roof drainage and eaves system. Leaking joints, poor falls, loose brackets, cracked sections or blocked outlets can send water down walls or back towards the roof edge. We inspect the run, corners, unions, stop ends and downpipe connections before recommending a repair or replacement.
Gutters & fascia for slate and tiled roofs
Guttering is available in common uPVC and metal profiles and colours. We can assess existing runs and discuss replacement sections or a new continuous layout, including downpipes and outlets. Fascia and soffit boards can also be repaired or renewed where weathering, movement or water exposure has affected the finish.
What the work involves
At the eaves, the connection between the roof covering, underlay, fascia and gutter matters. We check that water is directed into the gutter and that the installation is securely fixed. After work, we confirm the flow path is clear and the affected area is left tidy.
Every roof is assessed on its own condition, structure, access and exposure. Before we start, we explain the likely cause or proposed specification, the work involved and any limitations we can see. If a roof needs a wider repair than first expected, we discuss it with you before proceeding.
Roofing materials and details
Natural & fibre-cement slate
Slate roofs need correctly sized slates, sound fixings and careful detailing around ridges, valleys and abutments. Repair and renewal methods are chosen to suit the existing roof.
Clay & concrete tiles
Profile, pitch and interlock all affect the repair. We check for cracked or displaced tiles, failing ridge details and junctions that may admit wind-driven rain.
Flat roof systems
Felt, GRP and single-ply coverings each use different detailing and repair materials. We identify the system first and discuss a compatible solution.
