Flat roofs need reliable waterproofing at every seam and change of level. We assess the existing covering, the outlet and drainage path, parapet or wall upstands and any roof penetrations. Cracks, splits, lifted laps and standing water can have different causes, so we identify what is repairable before recommending a solution.
Flat roof repairs for slate and tiled roofs
Traditional bituminous felt can develop blistering, open laps or weathered edges. Single-ply and rubber membrane systems need compatible repair methods and materials. GRP/fibreglass roofs can require careful attention to cracks, joints and trims. The correct repair depends on the product already installed and the condition of the deck beneath it.
What the work involves
Where the defect is localised, a compatible patch or detail repair may restore the waterproof layer. If the covering has widespread failure or the deck is affected, we will discuss whether a larger renewal is more dependable. We also consider drainage falls and outlets so that water can leave the roof as intended.
Every roof is assessed on its own condition, structure, access and exposure. Before we start, we explain the likely cause or proposed specification, the work involved and any limitations we can see. If a roof needs a wider repair than first expected, we discuss it with you before proceeding.
Roofing materials and details
Natural & fibre-cement slate
Slate roofs need correctly sized slates, sound fixings and careful detailing around ridges, valleys and abutments. Repair and renewal methods are chosen to suit the existing roof.
Clay & concrete tiles
Profile, pitch and interlock all affect the repair. We check for cracked or displaced tiles, failing ridge details and junctions that may admit wind-driven rain.
Flat roof systems
Felt, GRP and single-ply coverings each use different detailing and repair materials. We identify the system first and discuss a compatible solution.
